Match Reports
Match Report by Nick DuGard: Saturday, 27 September 2014: FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round   Wealdstone’s tale of woe continued, this time in the Cup as all their hard work and improved play was undone by a last gasp Concord equaliser that they scarcely deserved. Credit to Stones who worked their socks off despite being without key players in Scott McGleish and Sean Cronin both suspended. And just before kick off Tom Hamblin pulled out with an injury meaning that the line-up had to be hastily reshuffled with Jimmy Hammond pitched in at centre half alongside Wes Parker. Both performed brilliantly throughout.   Both of Stones new signings this week were named as substitutes and came on very late in the tie - hugely experienced striker Enoch Showumni and winger…

Good afternoon one and all and welcome to The Vale for today’s FA Cup game verses Concord Rangers. We trust you and your fellow fans have a pleasant stay here with us in the heart of Middlesex and also have time to share a drink with the supporters in the clubhouse after the game. A few weeks ago I caught the tail end of the BBC documentary on the 50 years of Match of the Day. Whilst I, like many other chaps, love the nostalgic look back at those goals that mark moments in our lives I could not help but notice that each celebrity fan (a few…

Wealdstone 0 St. Albans City 3

Match Reports
Another match and another frankly humiliating defeat at home for struggling Wealdstone after the huge but deceptive lift of their first away victory at Whitehawk in midweek. Again this was a reverse made all the more difficult to accept as the visitors looked distinctly average feeding off some very generous Stones defending in front a 768 crowd, including the seemingly mandatory contingent of overtly gloating away supporters. Sadly Stones are making it all too easy for those that see them as ready-made relegation fodder.     Difficult times indeed with the prospect of more to come it seems unless positive change is effected that may also involve some increased risk taking – and with heightened urgency. After the match a frustrated and perplexed Gordon Bartlett said: ‘Once again mistakes have…

Supporters club notes – St Albans programme   By Nick DuGard, WFCSC President Welcome everyone to today’s match with St Albans City FC who like us were promoted last season. A special welcome too, to their joint Manager Jimmy Gray and all our former players who are in the Saints squad here at The Vale today. Well I don’t need to remind any of you Stones fans reading this article that we are in the middle of a very testing time for the club with regards to our playing fortunes. Over the years I have witnessed some dodgy starts to a season but this one is a rut we simply must work ourselves out of. The fear at the back of everyone’s minds is that everything we have worked so…
