St. Albans City 1 Wealdstone 1 (Sat, 29 Nov)

Match Reports
St Albans City 1 Wealdstone 1 FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round By Nick DuGard Wealdstone played a dramatic get out of jail card on Saturday at Clarence Park with an 87th minute equaliser from their wily old fox Scott McGleish. The hugely experienced front man headed powerfully past City ‘keeper Joe Welch only three minutes after the home side had taken the lead in this absorbing FA Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round tie. Stones had missed a first half penalty and looked to be on their way out of the tie after conceding their now seeminglyubiquitous late goal. The sides will now replay at The Vale on Tuesday evening, December 2nd for a coveted place in the First Round Proper of this prestigious competition. Stones display reflected their continuing improvement as a competitive unit after their thrashing by Saints in a home Vanarama Conference South encounter earlier in…

Wealdstone 1 Concord Rangers 0

Match Reports
Match Report by Nick Dugard Saturday, 22 November 2014 Vanarama Conference South Wealdstone 1 Concord Rangers 0   Wealdstone gained ample revenge with this close and hard fought victory over Concord Rangers who had dumped the Stones out of the FA Cup and had also beaten the home side in the league convincingly earlier in the season.   In a clash that turned out to be a war of attrition and fighting spirit it was Stones that eventually came out on top and in the process were able to record their first home victory of the campaign and also chalk up back to back successes.   Johnny Wright was unavailable for this match but the main squad news was that Richard Jolly, sensationally now out of retirement, was on the bench.   Wealdstone, who had lost key striker Connor Calcutt…

Chelmsford City 0 Wealdstone 2

Match Reports
Chelmsford City 0 Wealdstone 2   By Nick DuGard   A hard working and resilient Stones performance saw them claim their third Vanarama Conference South win of the season at a damp Melbourne Stadium on Monday. This was ahugely welcome victory but came at the cost of several injuries including a serious looking one to on-loan striker Connor Calcutt Elliott Godfrey’s fantastic opening strike and goal after just three minutes set Wealdstone on their way to an impressive victory as the home side struggled to break down the visitor’s solid rearguard all match. Shaun Lucien then tucked away from close range in the second-half following an awful defensive mix–up by City The Clarets, after Saturday’s drubbing by Whitehawk, found themselves behind just three minutes into the game. Elliott Godfrey picked up a defensive clearance and hit it on the volley as it arrowed into the net with wonderful…

Boreham Wood 2 Wealdstone 1

Match Reports
Another massively frustrating end to a match that Stones could and should have won but lost painfully when they conceded two late goals having held high flying Wood for all of 86 minutes. Stones grabbed a 12th minute goal from Johnny Wright and defended magnificently until the pressure and quality of the home side proved too much and two goals in three minutes gut wrenchingly undid all the good work. Wealdstone were always going to be under the cosh against one of the best sides in the division that features top scorer Lee Angol and a host of quality players now well versed in the ways and demands of Conference South football. Stones remain third from bottom after Saturday’s programme but have worryingly played as many as three games more than their fellow strugglers. Stones ambitions may currently be limited to finishing third from bottom of the league in what is already a season…

Wealdstone 1 Maidenhead United 1

Match Reports
Wealdstone remain looking for their first home Vanarama Conference South win after Maidenhead grabbed an 86th minute equaliser in a competitive, entertaining but ultimately hugely frustrating encounter at The Vale on Saturday.   Results may still be hard to come by for Stones who remain third from bottom of the table but 722 fans still turned up to witness an absorbing game of football that remained in the balance until the final whistle.    Striker Connor Calcutt on loan from League Two Stevenage and midfielder Matt Ball made their league debuts in a very bright first 25 minutes for the lively and improving home side.    Stones looked over eager in the final third but kept the pressure on the Magpies in the early stages. But the first real chance of the match fell to the away side when Danny Green’s…
