Basingstoke Town 2 Wealdstone 4 (Sat, 30 Mar)

Match Reports
Basingstoke Town 2 Wealdstone 4 Wealdstone’s recent form continues to frustrate and delight in equal measure but on Saturday at The Soccer AM Stadium it most definitely the latter. A controlled performance of skill and determination comprehensively outwitted promotion chasing Basingstoke who must have thought the points were there for the taking against a side that reportedly ‘had nothing to play for’.  The contest enthralled the 170 visiting supporters amongst a bumper crowd of 1,038 many of whom were youngsters hoping to meet The Wealdstone Raider who was also in attendance, his mass popularity undoubtedly still very much in evidence.  In a difficult swirling wind, Stones took first blood on 19 minutes after a nervous looking home side failed to master playing with the strong breeze at their backs and continually overplayed with stray passes. Wes Parker seized on an excellent free kick from…

Wealdstone 0 Boreham Wood 1 (Sat, 21 Mar)

Match Reports
VANARAMA CONFERENCE SOUTH Wealdstone 0 Boreham Wood 1 Match Report By Jon Batham GORDON Bartlett claimed poor decision making cost Wealdstone a point at home to Championship chasing Boreham Wood. Stones were sunk by a Ricky Shakes header deep into stoppage time at the end of the first half - one of few chances for either side in a game blighted by a biting cold blustery wind at The Vale. Bartlett\\\'s men lost the ball deep in opposition territory and then compounded the error by conceding the needless free-kick which yielded the winner. No surprise then boss Bartlett called for his team to show a little more nous in their quest for points. He said: ‘I am disappointed with this defeat but Wood are a strong side and are where…

Havant & Waterlooville 3 Wealdstone 1 (Sat, 14 Mar)

Match Reports
Havant & Waterlooville 3 Wealdstone 1 Wealdstone succumbed to a second successive defeat but can consider themselves hard done by as the softest of soft penalty awards in the second half at Westleigh Park on Saturdayeffectively killed off their challenge. Stones had enjoyed a very competitive first period against a side vying for promotion from the Vanarama Conference South and had pulled level through Luke O’Nien . But once the Hawks had grabbed a controversial penalty after Brian Stock cleverly appeared to fall down from the slightest of close challenges from James Hammond it all went awry for Stones.   A quick third goal from ex Stone Scott Donnelly sentthat the away side went into their shells and they couldn’t conjure up any further real threat to change the outcome of the contest. As a result Wealdstone dropped to 14th in the Conference South table and must now rapidly look to get…

Wealdstone 1 Bishops Stortford 4 (Sat, 7 Mar)

Match Reports
WEALDSTONE\\\\\\\'s poor home form returned with a vengeance at The Vale on Saturday as Mikel Suarez\\\\\\\'s double eased Bishop Stortford\\\\\\\'s relegation fears. Stortford\\\\\\\'s giant striker notched from close range in the first half and the spot after the break as the visitors dominated their surprisinglylacklustre hosts who had done so well at St Albans in the previous match. Stones were behind inside six minutes when George Allen rose highest to power a poorly defended header into the top corner. And they never really recovered from this early blow. They might have levelled on 17 minutes when West Ham loanee Nathan Mavila skinned his marker and crossed for Luke O\\\\\\\'Nien, whose shot looked destined for the far corner until Jake Larkins somehow clawed it behind for an excellent save. Stortford doubled the lead on 24 minutes, Jefferson Louis disastrously miscuing a clearance from a corner allowing Suarez to easily fire past North from six…

St. Albans City 1 Wealdstone 3 (Sat, 28 Feb)

Match Reports
Wealdstone moved up to the heady heights of eleventh position in the Vanarma Conference South with a hard fought win over St Albans City on Saturday and must now be free of any further glances over their shoulders at a rapidly disappearing drop zone.   A superb all round performance from much travelled striker Jefferson Louis who scored two and made the third and killer goal for Scott Davies, sealed a satisfying victory. Louis has taken his time to win over the demanding Stones fans but the former Hendon front man is now proving his worth with pace, power, effective hold up play and has now shown the ability to score from any distance.  But the win was not all about Louis with the whole squad playing their part and doing the ugly…
