Another highly determined and gritty performance saw Wealdstone take a well-earned point from high flying Bromley on Sunday at Hayes Lane in front of 1,239 spectators.

Man of the match was undoubtedly Stones keeper Jonathan North who kept his side in the match at vital points in this tense but entertaining contest, pulling off a string of outstanding saves. But credit has to be given to the whole squad who battled and persevered throughout in the face of intense pressure, particularly in the second half as the home side pushed forward strongly.

The match saw the full debut since his re-signing of Richard Jolly who was on target with a goal on 33 minutes who levelled up after Bromley had grabbed the lead only 5 minutes earlier.

Bromley started the stronger overall on a heavy pitch and Louis Dennis, Moses Ademola and Jamie Slabber went close for the hosts.

But Bromley made the breakthrough on 28 minutes, ironically after North had made a magnificent one handed stop, but Ademola was on hand to tuck the ball away from a tight angle after Stones defence, for oncecouldn’t clear.

Wealdstone hit back immediately after this set back and soon equalised. A good looping header from the hard working Luke O’Nien was only half cleared and when the ball came backinto the box, Richard Jolly was in the right place to volley home at the far post past a startled Seb Brown.

Play became more even as Stones defence continued to keep matters tight with the midfield working hard to prise open counter attacking moves.

The second period saw Stones start the stronger with Matt Ball working well in the midfield but his two long –range strikes were off target.

Bromley then pushed back in their strongest spell of the match, but Damien Scannell, Slabber and Dennis were all denied by the in-form North.

Slabber went close again for the hosts and Ademola had a powerful shot saved by the ever alert North but late on it was Stones that came closest to snatching all the points through substitute Shaun Lucien who looked menacing for the entire time he was in play.

Wealdstone: North, Martin, Watts, Parker, Cronin (Wright 65), Godfrey, Ball, Brown, McGleish (Lucien, 84), Jolly, O’Nein. Subs not used: Turner, Louis, Hamblin.
