Wealdstone cruised into the second round of the Middlesex Charity Cup after a dominant performance against CB Hounslow United ended in a 5-1 victory at The Vale on Tuesday night.

A first half brace from Dejon Noel-Williams, accompanied by finishes from Afolabi Coker, Sanchez Watt and Eric Lopes, cancelled out Trent Skapetis’ consolation.

It was an onslaught right from the first whistle from the home side, Noel-Williams netted his first after being slipped in by right-back Enoch Ekongo and slotted into the bottom corner within two minutes.

One goal quickly became two as Noel-Williams got his chest onto Enoch Andoh’s cross from the left after four minutes.

There was no rest for Hounslow as the persistent Stones found a third two minutes later, Jacob Mendy’s chip was headed in at the back-post by Coker.

The game would not seem to settle down as Skapetis’ grabbed a goal back for the away side, good pressing from the forward gifted Skapetis an open goal.

With four goals inside 10 minutes, the game finally settled down as Hounslow tightened up and the Stones dominated possession.

Opportunities were far less frequent for a 15-minute spell, the best falling to Andoh on the edge of the box who dragged his low effort wide.

The Stones did find a fourth after 26 minutes, a fantastic run by Watt was rewarded with an equally good through ball by Billy Clifford.

Watt was able to cut-in from the right-hand side and delay his effort enough to fool the Hounslow defence, before striking low into a defenceless net.

Noel-Williams, fresh from scoring his first Stones goal on Saturday, looked lively and went searching for a third. His long-distance effort 10 minutes before the interval dragged high and wide.

Two quick-fire efforts from Jake Sheppard and Matty Saunders were denied by Hounslow ‘keeper Harry Churchill just before half-time, leaving the away side a mountain to climb in the second half.

It was a slower start to the second period than the first, the first early effort for the Stones was from Andoh who lacked power in a right-footed volley.

The second half lacked the quick tempo set in the opening period, a positive for the Stones defending a three-goal advantage.

Stones substitute Douglas Mendes struck a half-volley which forced a strong save out of Churchill, while Noel-Williams’ first-time effort inside the penalty area was also stopped shortly after.

The icing on the cake for Wealdstone almost came from a free-kick by Ashley Charles in the final few minutes which cannoned off the crossbar.

That was until Lopes cut-in from the left and struck a great shot direct into the top corner, which sealed the victory in emphatic style.

The Stones return to league action this Saturday when the league leaders travel to Dorking Wanderers, kick-off is at 3pm.
