Following speculation over the past few weeks,Wealdstone have confirmed the signing of vastly experienced striker Scott McGleish from Ryman Premier rivals Enfield Town

McGleish has a wealth of professional and non-league experience and has been top goal scorer at four clubs: Colchester (twice), Northampton Town, Wycombe and Orient.

Starting his career at Edgware Town, the 39 year old has also played for Charlton Athletic, Peterborough and Bristol Rovers. McGleish also appeared for Stones arch rivals Whitehawk earlier this season.

Always among the goals,he has top scored for Enfield this season with an impressive goals/appearance ratio.

Wealdstone Manager, Gordon Bartlett, who has been tracking McGleish for months said: ‘I am delighted to sign Scott at this important time as we come to the business end of the season. With majority of the other challenging clubs seemingly signing players with regularity it was important to bring in fresh blood. We will be without Chris Moore for the next three games and it’s no secret that goals have not been flowing so consistently in recent games. I see his signature similar to when we signed prolific ex Blackburn striker Simon Garner a few years ago. He had a huge impact on the rest of the squad and I hope Scott’s obvious desire for success work ethic, experience and guile in the attacking areas will spark up our goal threat again.

‘I must take this opportunity of thanking the fans again, because this addition for the last 6 weeks of the season would not have been possible without their successful Pints for Promotion campaign’

Also signed for the Stones this week is 6′ 4″ Romanian centre back Claudiu Crihana Vechi who last club was Speranta in Moldova.
