Hello everyone!

First of all, I would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year and of course offer the usual cordial welcome to all Hemel Hempstead supporters who are visiting the Vale today for the Stones first home match in 2015. The last week or so has seen a strange sequence of matches and I wonder when was the last time that the Stones played on two consecutive Sundays.  Perhaps we have never done so! These notes are being written just after our 1-1 draw against Sutton which turned out to be a very dour affair with very few chances being created. It was a real relief when the Stones managed to grab an equaliser in injury time particularly as it was a few minutes after we hit the crossbar from a free-kick from just outside the area.

Our excellent Megastore will be open as usual before and after the game as well as during the half time interval. The megastore has had record sales over the last few weeks as a result of Christmas and the interest in the Wealdstone Raider. In fact, the new Wealdstone Raider mugs have gone down well and one customer actually purchased 25 of them!!! Adam has been very busy and is now on first name terms with the staff at his local post office as a result of the number of packages that he has had to send out over the last couple of weeks. If you make you way to the Megastore, you will see that there is the 2015 Calendar for only £5, some new mug designs also at £5 each, scarves, hats and gloves if you are feeling the chill and numerous leisure tops. Remember that the Megastore now accepts card payments and therefore there is now no need to have items put by until you have the cash. If you are not able to get to the Megastore today, please don’t forget that you can make purchases on line at www.wfcmegastore.co.uk

With Clive leaving the committee, and Jez leaving at the end of the season, we are actively looking for two new people to join our vibrant committee. Many of you will have seen the advert that we placed in the Boxing Day programme for a new secretary and we will shortly be looking for a replacement for Jez as travel secretary. If you are interested in joining our committee and in particular to fill these two very important positions, please make yourselves known to any committee member or contact me on 07988 792716 or by email at david.albert@sky.com and I will be happy to discuss these important roles further.

Don’t forget to buy your Golden Goals tickets today from Mim who stands just inside the ground, close to the turnstiles. Tickets are £1 each and you can win £50 for the first goal scored and £10 for the last goal scored. Goal times are announced by Bappo and published on the Supporters Club website (www.wfcsc.co.uk). If you do win you can collect your winnings from Mim in the Megastore after the game.

Up the Stones!

David Albert.
