WEALDSTONE SIGN DANNY GREEN FROM MARGATE

Wealdstone have added to their squad with the signing of highly rated creative midfielder Danny Green from Margate.

Green,25, started his career with Harlow Town and then enjoyed experience with Cheshunt and Bishop’s Stortford before moving to Billericay Town in 2009. He then joined Dagenham & Redbridge on a three-year contract in May 2010, initially adding to his experience on loan at several clubs

He made his professional debut for League Two Dagenham & Redbridge later that season coming on as a substitute in their away loss to Bournemouth in the Football League Cup Second Round

After having been released by Dagenham Danny played for AFC Sudbury, Bishop’s Stortford for a second spell, Thurrock and then Maidenhead United where he enjoyed a very successful couple of campaigns. In June 2015, Green signed for Vanarama National League South rivals Margate.

Stones Manager Gordon Bartlett said: ‘I spoke to Danny last pre- season, so twelve months of patience has been rewarded and I am excited that his creativity and eye for a goal will be a big asset to the squad. Now in his mid-twenties, Danny is the type of player who possesses the ability to be a match winner and provide entertainment for the fans as well’

CEO Mark Winkworth said: ‘”We wanted Danny and Danny wanted Wealdstone. I met him and his father last week and they were keen to come to Wealdstone, having heard good things about the club. Danny is a fantastic addition to our squad for next season. He will bring a vast amount of experience and will give us some extra flare in the midfield.”
