Wealdstone’s stalwart defender Alan Massey has left the club this week to join Blue Square Premier side Braintree Town. In so doing he joins a long list of young Stones players that have progressed on to a higher level of football in recent years.
Centre half Massey joined the Stones in 2007 following a loan move from parent club League Two side Wycombe Wanderers. He rapidly established himself in the side and has been virtually ever present in Gordon Bartlett’s Ryman Premier outfit and is hugely popular with the Stone‘s faithful for his pacey and combative style.
Wealdstone Manager, Gordon Bartlett said: ‘Alan has been a superb servant of this club since arriving from Wycombe Wanderers four seasons ago. He is a great character and very popular with players and fans alike and we all wish him the very best at Braintree. He leaves on excellent terms and with our full blessing as he fully deserves the opportunity to play at a higher level of football. We are proud of our consistent record of furthering the careers of many young players who have moved on to Conference and League football’
Meanwhile, in other player news, Polish striker Jacek Magdzinski has signed for Wealdstone on a dual registration from Billericay Town. Magdzinski made his Stones debut last Monday in the 5-2 home win over Kingstonian.
