It is the turn of Supporters Club committee member, Seth Dalton to write in the Wealdstone matchday home programme  from Saturday’s 3-0 home Ryman League victory against Carshalton Athletic. His article appears below.

It’s back to league action today as we welcome Carshalton to the Vale, and an opportunity to reinforce our position in the top five, after last weeks trophy game against Corby. These notes were prepared before the replay but hopefully by the time you read them we will have progressed through to the next round. We should really have put the tie to bed in the first game, but a combination of our inability to find a quality final ball, following good approach play, and some fine saves by the visitors keeper meant we had to settle for a one all draw, and a replay on Wednesday night. A local derby at home to Hayes and Yeading awaits in the first round proper, which is defiantly winnable.

It’s been a great start to the season for the Stones, with only one league defeat, and still in 4 cups, but the danger as we have seen in past seasons, is playing catch up at the end of the league campaign. It is of course the price you pay for success, but we have found that final step beyond us, as injuries, suspensions and fatigue play a big part in the run in. I do think however that this season the team has a little more resilience about it as displayed in pulling back 2 goal deficits against Kingstonian and Hampton, both who topped the table at the time, and with quality in all positions now this could be the year.
Christmas is fast approaching and time is running out to get those presents sorted, so a visit to our new megastore is a must for all Stones fans. We stock a hugh collection of merchandise, from stocking fillers, such as gloves, hats, scarves etc to full replica kits, polo shirts and winter jackets in all sizes. There is something to suit all pockets, and the store will be opening on Sundays in the run up to Christmas to enable all supporters to pick up those special Stones gifts. See our website, wfcsc.co.uk for opening times and ordering deadlines for clothing. We are very lucky to have two guys such as Adam and Mark who put a tremendous amount of time into running the store, and their commitment and drive has resulted in what is without doubt one of the best club shops in non league football. Pop in and take a look, and don’t forget your GOLDEN GOAL ticket from Mim at the turnstile block.

NOTES FOR THE DIARY.
