Hello everyone and welcome to you all to today’s Ryman League game against Hastings United.
First of all, I must congratulate Hastings on their great FA Cup run this season. They had a great day at Middlesbrough in the 3rd Round and although they lost, they won a lot of plaudits with their performance on the pitch. They managed to also take over a thousand supporters to the match which is really a great effort considering the distance that they had to travel. The whole of the Ryman League should be proud of their efforts.

Last week we had a very productive Supporters Club committee meeting and I am pleased to confirm that we have created two new positions on the committee. The new positions are Seth Dalton as Membership Secretary and Jez Albert as Commercial and Travel Manager. For some time now, we have felt that we needed to promote Supporters Club membership and Seth has come forward to take this role and already he has produced a lovely new membership card for both life members and annual members. For the next home game, a flyer will be produced which will promote membership and indicate what is included. Seth will explain more in his programme notes for the Lowestoft match.

Brother Jez has been looking after away travel for a couple of seasons. His efforts have proved very successful and we are building a good reputation for efficient travel to away games. Many supporters are using the coach service regularly and comment on the good service that they receive. Due to the number of coaches that we are now organising, we felt that a Travel Secretary in charge of the organisation of away travel is vital for the success of the Supporters Club and as Jez has been doing this function for a couple of years, it was a perfect fit. My words not his! On this note, we would like to run a coach to Leiston on Tuesday night but we do need 30 people to make it economically viable to run. The coach leaves the Vale at 4pm with an additional stop just off junction 25 of the M25. The cost is £20 for adults and £15 for children and oap’s. You can book your seat with Jez in the club shop today.

Jez is also trying to organise a Sporting Dinner and at present we are looking at a couple of dates in May and looking for a suitable speaker. Watch this space over the next few weeks for further details.

Our club shop aka The Megastore is going from strength to strength and is well worth a visit. It is open before and after the match and during half time. They have just taken delivery of a batch of woolly hats which is just the trick during this very cold snap.

Don’t forget to buy your Golden Goals tickets today from Clive who stands just inside the ground, close to the turnstiles. Tickets are £1 each and you can win £50 for the first goal scored and £10 for the last goal scored. Goal times are announced by Bappo and published on the Supporters Club website (www.wfcsc.co.uk). If you do win you can collect your winnings after the game from Clive who will be standing inside the ground where the turnstiles are located.

Up The Stones.
