Saturday 27 July at The Vale v Hayes & Yeading United
Wealdstone FC are to establish an annual match in memory of supporters that are sadly no longer with us and that will gather momentum as the ‘Wealdstone FC Memorial Match’
The inaugural memorial match will be the pre-season friendly versus Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday 27 July kick off 3pm.
The club is asking fans to write some special editorial (approx 50/100 words with photos where possible) in memory of their loved ones that are no longer standing on the terraces with us, for the match day programme.
The fans will take part in a one minute hand clap before kick off.
Supporters can also sponsor the match in memory of a loved one and the club can provide special arrangements for them if they so require. The match will still contest the Brian Collins Challenge Shield but the club is open to suggestions for a special epitaph, memorial or roll of honour to be created in the future.
Club President Paul Rumens said: ”At last we at Wealdstone have an opportunity, via the fans and lifeblood of this club, to recognise and remember those friends and family, who are sadly no longer with us. Now we can celebrate their lives year on year and in so doing they will never be forgotten”.
