Good afternoon one and all and welcome to The Vale for todays big game versuColchester UnitedWe trust every fan has a pleasant stay here with usin the heart of Middlesex and also has time to share a drink with thesupporters in the clubhouse after the game.

Like almost every other Stones fan I was glued to the telly at 7pm last Monday, chewing my nails, pacing the room, telling my wife and daughter to be quiet and extremely anxious as to which ball we were going to be paired with. Talk about tension. Almost every time the ball came out the rest of the family was given a running commentary on whether that was a good or bad draw. I have to say when ball number 69 was finally pulled out and matched to Colchester I was jumping around the room and reaching for the phone to share the excitement. That feeling probably lasted 15 minutes until the realisation hit like a freight train that the next two weeks were going to be hell on earth. Fast forward seven days and life is just a bit stressful trying to ensure new stock arrives, shirts are printed and all those little bits and bobs are in place for Saturday. I am now a few steps closer to divorce as the house has quickly been taken over by boxes of stock and resembles an Amazon warehouse. You would think after eight years of doing this, life would get easier, but I can assure you it has not.

Aside from the stresses of organising for the big day the appearance in the first round gives any lower league / non-league fan the chance to parade their club in front of all those doubters whether at work or school. For a few weeks it will mean I don’t have to explain who my club are, the history we have and actually how great it is to watch football in flesh rather than on a TV screen. For a few short moments people actually realise there is life outside the Premier League.

FA Cup Special – We have a limited number of Wealdstone v Colchester United commemorative mugs available to buy to mark the third meeting of our two clubs in the FA Cup. The mugs will be available at all Megastore outlets today,  so bag yours early as if previous big matches are anything to go by they will be gone well before three o’clock. One could be yours for just £5.

Megastore Locations – Please be aware that due to the added numbers of fans in the ground today for the big game we will be opening the Megastore as usual (behind the dugouts) but also selling a few items outside the ground before the game, and finally in our mobile Megastore Gazebo near Dead Fox corner (You cannot miss it as it is the only gazebo in the ground).

Inside the Megastore  As always the Megastore will be open today and you will be able to buy all your Wealdstone merchandise from football shirts to polo shirts, beanie hats to scarves, baby grows to bags. Please remember if we don’t have your size in stock we are happy to order it in for a few weeks’ time.

If merchandise is not your thing please feel free to pop in and peruse our huge selection of Wealdstone and football league programmes. We haveanything from Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham, Everton, Millwall, Watford, Southampton, West Ham and more. Have a look as you would be surprised at the prices we charge.

Payment – As always we can process card payments in the Megastore on game days via a handy PayPal card machine, so not only can you spend more in the Megastore, but you can also retain your cash to buy pints, programmes or golden goals.

Golden Girl – Mim will be selling Golden Goals just inside the ground for your chance to scoop an extra £50 for the first goal scored or £10 for the last goal.If you are lucky enough to win pop into the Megastore at the end of the game to collect your prize from Mim.

Supporters Club News – The Wealdstone FC Supporters Club Annual

Thanks – A quick thank you to all the helpers and volunteers that have been roped in to helping out today, as well as giving up their time to make today a success. Here’s to a great day.

Goodbye & goodnight – That brings to an end my 13th set of programme notes (hopefully not unlucky)Remember the shop will be open all home games and some away games. Come on you Stones and don’t forget to bring your wallets.
