The Supporters Club Executive Committee are delighted to announce the instigation of a new Supporter of the Season award. Next May will see the Mark Barton Memorial Shield awarded for the first time.

‘Markie’ Barton was a loyal member of the Executive Committee for many years. His interest in Wealdstone started as a Lower Mead Stadium ball boy in 1968. After a lapse in his support during the ‘nomadic years’ Mark Lloyd reignited his interest in the Stones again during the second half of the 2007/08 season. With his son George they helped raise money during the Supporters Club sponsored Walk to Hendon FC. In the relocation to Ruislip Manor, he spent most of his spare time helping to renovate the club house and managing the WFC Ladies Football Team. He was also an Associate Director of the Football Club. Markie passed away in February 2020 and as one tribute said: “He was a tireless volunteer for the club, throwing himself into everything with enthusiasm. He will be much missed.”

It is hoped that a representative of the Barton family will present this new award at the annual presentations in May.
