Supporter of the Season Shield
Each year, the Supporters Club Executive Committee decide who is to be named the ‘Supporter of the Season’.
This has been awarded since 1990 to the supporter or supporters who have gone ‘that extra mile’.
Details of the inaugural shield, the Tom Verrall Shield and the current Mark Barton Memorial Shield are below.
A new shield was presented for the first time in 2022 to the memory of Mark Barton who was a stalwart of the Supporters Club Executive Committee for many years.
There is also a full list of all the winners below.
1990 till 2003 - The Shield
Inaugurated in 1990, each recipient received a shield to mark their achievement and a keepsake.
Our first winner back then was Sateesh Khanna who subsequently won the award again in 2009/10. Sateesh is still a regular at Grosvenor Vale and a constant from the Lower Mead days who has contributed a lot over the years.
Sateesh also played for SFC Wealdstone in their early days.
2003 till 2021 - Tom Verrall Shield
In 2003, the ‘Tom Verrall Shield’ was instigated for the ‘Supporter of the Season’ to retain for a year. This new shield was named in honour of the inaugural WFCSC Secretary and who was later President.
Tom was instrumental in forming the Wealdstone Football Club Supporters Club back in 1958 and as mentioned above was the inaugural Secretary, a post he held for seven years.
Some of the winners also received a platter to commemorate their award.
