Supporters club notes – St Albans programme

By Nick DuGard, WFCSC President
Welcome everyone to today’s match with St Albans City FC who like us were promoted last season. A special welcome too, to their joint Manager Jimmy Gray and all our former players who are in the Saints squad here at The Vale today.
Well I don’t need to remind any of you Stones fans reading this article that we are in the middle of a very testing time for the club with regards to our playing fortunes. Over the years I have witnessed some dodgy starts to a season but this one is a rut we simply must work ourselves out of. The fear at the back of everyone’s minds is that everything we have worked so hard for as a club could be very quickly undone and this would be disastrous.
I have my own opinions – as we will all do – and I will work behind the scenes with the supporters’ club committee to do everything possible to aid a turnaround because we all want the same thing – the best for this great football club of ours.
Please do attend the meet the Chairman and Manager Evening on Thursday October 2nd at 8pm in the Aquarium bar. This is YOUR opportunity to have your say and join in a construction debate to help take us forward through this very difficult time. All welcome.
Hopefully, at that meeting, we will hear an update relating to our ground lease situation. In my view this is THE most important factor at this club – because it is about our long term future and stability off the pitch. This is what keeps me awake at night!
Enough of this depressing stuff! It was ironic that after the defeat at Concord Rangers last Saturday we had a fantastic, packed, night in the RSC dancing to an MJ tribute band who were very good indeed and a big well done to James Klarfeld and his helpers for staging the event which will raise a few bob for the club’s coffers. So all good!
Hopefully today we will see our two new WFC flags flying from the floodlight pylons – the supporters club have purchased these and our thanks to Markie Barton for ordering them and to Mickey Kane for putting them up!
Don’t forget to visit the excellent and fully stocked Megastore located behind the dugouts and a reminder that the Megastore has now had its excellent website fully restored – as has WFCSC.
See Mim by the turnstiles before kick-off to purchase your Golden Goal tickets – another very valuable source of income for the club
That’s all from me – keep the faith, keep supporting and we will win through!
COYS!
Nick DuGard
