How It Unfolded
Four Questions with Jacob Mendy
Following a stellar performance that saw him score a goal, bag the Man of the Match award and gain a place in the Non League Paper Team of the Week, we caught up with left back Jacob Mendy Mendy for this week’s Four Questions.
It feels really good to get that first win. Everyone is happy at the club and the fans are too, and that’s really important.
Yes, to be honest, it was a really nice weekend for everyone at the club but especially for me. I am happy to get the first win, my first goal of the season, and Man of the Match to top it. I will definitely say that that’s the best goal I have scored for the Stones so far.
Yes, I can play in more positions and that’s an advantage for me and for the manager as well. Left back is my favourite position but like I always say, I will give my best wherever the manager wants me to play.
It’s a strange feeling not to have the support of the fans in the stadium but we know that they are still supporting us from home. There’s no better feeling than playing in front of our supporters and unfortunately, we can’t have that at the moment.

What a feeling to get the first home win and three points on the board. A memorable end to end game with 7 goals, the pick of which was probably a left footed long range effort from Jacob Mendy Mendy. There was plenty of reaction on social media to the result, some of the tweets that caught our eye are below.
The mighty @WealdstoneFC have only gone and beat Wrexham. #UTS

My dad has been going to Wealdstone since the late 70’s, and me only regularly since about 2005, but must admit this result has made me emotional. Even in the last 10 years ive seen us lose at home to Beaconsfield in the FA Cup and now we are beating Wrexham like its nothing 🔵⚪️

Chwarae teg to @WealdstoneFC too. For all our concerns there's no debate over who was the better team. Good luck for the rest of the season.

This fine win is dedicated to my wife who sat down literally just before our 2nd half quickfire goals. Lots of Qs about the ground! Normally a massive doom and gloom merchant when Watford are on TV but from now on her presence at all Stones streaming is mandatory. @WealdstoneFC

Well done Deano and Stu. Enjoy a cold one tonight to celebrate. Just wish everyone was there to roar the team back through the tunnel. #letfansin

I remember going to @Wrexham_AFC in 97 to see the Hammers draw 1-1 at a snow covered Racecourse Ground in an FA Cup tie then lose the replay 1-0 at the Boleyn and now the mighty @Wealdstone_FC are banging 4 past them in the @TheVanaramaNL! Just brilliant today from the lads! #UTS

The Mighty @WealdstoneFC go into their midweek @TheVanaramaNL match against @ChesterfieldFC above them in the league ....... who would have thought!

Reflecting on Wrexham’s performance I was surprised at how they stood off in the midfield allowing us to play our game. Understandable their long suffering fans are going into meltdown but it’s a long old season. A very entertaining game for the neutral if they could see it! 🙄
