Good Afternoon and welcome to today’s FA Trophy 2nd round match against Conference Premier Barrow. A warm welcome to all their players, officials and supporters most of whom are making the 600 mile round trip. Please enjoy yourselves and enjoy a few beers (or Snowballs for only £1.50), in the club house before going home.
I don’t often venture onto other clubs forums for fear of nosebleeds but I did pop over to Barrow’s for a pleasant surprise. It seems that our fans are very similar, as soon as the fixture was announced there were some familiar responses. Some thought that it was a good tie based on who was left in, some thought that it would be difficult and already preparing themselves for the worst. Now where have I seen this before?? All I can say is that we should give any team a good run for their money especially as we play football and not kick the opposition into submission.
Now onto supporters club business; don’t forget the train trip to Lowestoft on 28th January. Clive is organising another of his classic away days which are going down in folk law for their excellent value and better still the large amount of fun had by all. Previous trips include Bury and that rather non eventful visit to Lewes. The cost is £15 for adults and children. We will be meeting at Liverpool Street Station in the Hamilton Hall Wetherspons (from 0900), to catch the 1000 train. This will get us to Lowestoft with plenty of time left to visit local pubs, see the sights or play with one arm bandits (just don’t get burnt). Clive is collecting names so please see him today, or email him at wealdstonefcsc@hotmail.com.
The news just keeps getting better, as with the help of our now infamous supporter of the year Mr. Rands, we are about to release a new supporters club website on Monday at 20:00. This new site offers everything the last one had plus much much more; fixtures, reports, golden goal results, social media updates (oohh), multimedia, matchday posters etc. This is all part of trying to drive the club forwards and make sure we engage fans on as many levels as possible. Visit www.wfcsc.co.uk for further details and once again thank you to Neil who wears more hats than Mr. Benn.
Mim continues with her golden goals which are available just after the turnstile for £1 each. If you get the time of the first goal right you’ll win £50 while the final goal nets you a tenner.
Last but by no means least the Megastore. Both Adam and I would like to thank everyone for their support in 2011 and just to let you know that we had some great Christmas takings and look forward to an even better 2012. You will also notice shortly that www.wfcmegastore.co.uk will be having a little nip and tuck so we hope you like it! Gordon’s book is now sold out but if there is enough demand then can arrange for a small print run. The 2009/10 behind the season diary is still available for £12.95 but once it’s gone, it’s gone so don’t miss out. You have been warned! We have some new products on the way very shortly; limited edition hats (we can’t get any more they’ve changed the locks), and some lovely Pierre Cardin Jumpers. Watch this space.
