Miriam Goodman from the Supporters Club writes in Saturday’s programme for the Home FA Cup tie against Lowestoft Town.
Good afternoon to one and all.
I am keenly anticipating today’s match and I feel sure that our players are as well. Memories of the play-off match at Lowestoft are still vivid, especially the way our fans from the notorious coaches 1 & 2 stayed long after the final whistle to chant their support for the lads whilst they were in the changing room, most probably licking their proverbial wounds.
I call on our supporters to please expend all your energies today expressing your support for the team as we did late that night – remember, you make up the twelfth man! Let us help them make it into the velvet bag for Monday’s next round draw.
Tomorrow the Supporters’ Club will be hosting a different kind of event not seen during our tenure at the Vale – Bingo. We hope to attract all members of the family, especially those that do not necessarily come along for the football, so please spread the word. With a modest admission charge of £1, the evening could cost between just £5 and £10 depending on how many books you play. “Eyes down” at 7.30pm in the Social Club.
For those of you who have yet to see our brand new Megastore, do not miss the opportunity to see all the clothing lines on offer as well as a variety of books/memorabilia and a programme collector’s dream corner. The shop is now situated behind the dugouts and is open pre-match, at half-time and post-match.
Most items can also be purchased on-line via their website www.wfcmegastore.co.uk.
As per usual on a match day, I shall be selling Golden Goal tickets at the entrance to the ground for £1 a “go”. The holder of the ticket with the time of the first goal will win £50, and that with the time of the last goal will win £10 (unless there is only 1 goal). Prizes can be claimed from me at the end of the match by the turnstiles. The details of the winning time(s) are also shown on our website, so you can also claim at the next home match if you discover a “golden” ticket in your pocket/wallet.
The time of the first goal at our last match here on Saturday 8th September was 17:30 minutes and the lucky ticket holder was Paul Foot. The consolation ticket of 48:30 minutes was bought by Bob Woodrow. Thanks to all those who support our fund-raising efforts. Please remember to visit the supporters’ club website at www.wfcsc.co.uk for the latest news and forthcoming events.
I just hope the match lives up to expectations,
COME ON YOU STONES!
